It is established that fish oils have beneficial effects on various human diseases, especially on coronary heart disease. So much so, there has been focal attention around the world on the use of fish oils as a curative, particularly in respect of coronary heart diseases in human, since 1970s.Omega-3 fatty acids form fish oils can prevent\cure human coronary heart disease (Kanth,1987;Jehangir).both health professionals and the public have been evincing keen interest on the role of these oils in the prevention and management of coronary heart diseases. The fresh water and sea water fishes are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, mono-unsaturated fats, and omega-6 fatty acids, all of which are high in human diets. Understanding the science behind this may help all, particularly fish farmer and fish consumers. Freshwater fish like Lake trout and whitefish form cold water environment, and are especially high in omega-3 fatty acids. In a study of the fisheries of the Lake Superior in USA it was found that Lake Superior chub lean lake trout, fat lake trout (siscowet), smelt, white fish, and burbot are all good sources of fatty acid. From the sea, herring, menhaden, pilchard, sardine and whale are the major sources of fish oils. Although whales are marine mammals, because of their ecological, functional and physiological similarity to fish, whale oil is also included in the category of fish oil.
